It was a light week of action for the DeForest High School girls' and boys' cross country teams, but they made the most of their limited time running.
Both Norski squads placed in the Top 3 at the Warriors Classic in Portage on Sept. 30.
The DHS boys' squad claimed second place with 103 points, which put them well behind Sun Prairie (44). Rounding out the Top 5 was Baraboo (116), Portage (122) and Lodi (124).
The Lady Norskies had a solid third-place finish after racking up 94 points. They only trailed Baraboo (57) and Lodi (63) in the standings. Sun Prairie (95) and Madison Edgewood (133) finished just behind DeForest.
The Norski boys' team was led by Top 10 finishes from Kyle Eisler and Knuteson.
Eisler (17 minutes, 3 seconds) and Knuteson (17:15) finished back-to-back in fifth and sixth place, respectively.
The third DHs runner to cross the finish-line was Adam Woods, who did so in 17:57 to take 22nd place overall.
Tyler Grinstead (32nd, 18:31) and Justin Hageman (38th, 18:48) closed out the scoring for DeForest.
Meanwhile, the Lady Norskies had all five scoring runners place in the Top 25, including three in the Top 20.
Anna Howery led the way for DeForest after finishing the course in 16:12 to take 10th place.
Taylor Legried was not far behind Howery in 15th place after clocking in at 16:26.
Larissa Schlitz earned the third Top 20 finish for the Norskies as she finished in 16:48 to take 20th place.
Lizzy Owen (23rd, 16:55) and Sarah Hoekstra (26th, 17:00) capped off the scoring and the great night for the Lady Norskies.
Katie Williams (27th, 17:02) and Rachel Campbell (28th, 17:05) finished right behind Hoekstra but they did not factor in the team score.
Both Norski squads will take part in the Wisconsin Lutheran Invitational on Friday, and then on Monday they will compete in the Columbus Invite. Both Invites are slated to start at 4 p.m.
